Question 1

Why do I need a pre-purchase survey?

Accepted Answer

A yacht hides most of its condition below the waterline, behind linings and inside machinery spaces. An independent pre-purchase survey documents what is actually there — structural condition, moisture levels, machinery state, systems and safety equipment — so you can negotiate on facts, budget realistically for the first seasons, and avoid inheriting defects that cost far more than the survey itself.

Question 2

How long does a survey take?

Accepted Answer

A typical yacht or boat survey may take four to eight hours on site. Larger vessels, or surveys including machinery trials and a sea trial, can take a full day or longer. Reporting time is separate: written reports are normally delivered within two to four working days of the inspection.

Question 3

Can you travel?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We work throughout Turkey and the Eastern Mediterranean as our primary service area, and we attend vessels internationally on request. Travel and accommodation, where applicable, are quoted transparently in advance.

Question 4

What equipment do you use?

Accepted Answer

Standard survey instruments including moisture meters for comparative readings on hull, deck and core areas, thermal imaging for machinery and electrical inspection, sounding and percussion tools, electrical test instruments, inspection cameras and calibrated measuring equipment. Equipment is selected to suit the vessel's construction material.

Question 5

Will I receive a written report?

Accepted Answer

Always. Every survey concludes with a structured written report containing the vessel's particulars, the scope of inspection, findings by area, supporting photographs, moisture and instrument data where relevant, and recommendations grouped by priority.

Question 6

What types of vessels do you survey?

Accepted Answer

We survey yachts and boats within an agreed scope based on the vessel’s construction, systems, access and the purpose of the inspection. If a vessel or specialist system requires expertise outside the agreed survey scope, we state that clearly before attendance.

Question 7

What does the survey scope include?

Accepted Answer

The scope is agreed in writing before attendance and typically covers accessible structure, machinery, onboard systems, electrical installations and safety-related equipment relevant to the selected survey type. Any exclusions or access limitations are recorded clearly.

Question 8

Can a report be submitted to an insurer or lender?

Accepted Answer

At the vessel owner’s request, a technical report may be submitted to an insurer or finance provider. Final acceptance, required scope and use of the report remain subject to that organisation’s own criteria and requirements.
